Karva Chauth has a cultural and historical emphasis in Indian festivals. On this day women keep a whole day fast from morning till night moon rise for the health and betterment of their husbands. This not only bonds the two partners but also brings people close to god. Today is Karva Chauth for 2011.

Karva Chauth or करवा चौथ, is an annual one-day holiday celebrated in the Hindu and Sikh some women in northern India and parts of Pakistan, which is observed by married women fast rising of the moon in the safety and longevity of their fast in the Uttarakhand husbands.The , Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Indian Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The festival falls on the fourth day of full moon, and the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Kartik, after the autumn equinox. Sometimes unmarried women observe fast their boyfriends or husbands desired.
